Automatic Roller Egg Turning System

The included roller egg-turning system rotates the eggs automatically during incubation. Rather than tilting the eggs vertically, the rollers keep the eggs lying horizontally on their sides while gently rotating them during the incubation process.

The automatic roller system is included with every incubator order, whether the incubator is purchased as a pre-order or an in-stock order.

This method closely reproduces the natural rolling motion associated with a broody hen and provides consistent movement throughout incubation.

Regular turning helps:

• Reduce the risk of embryo adhesion to the membranes
• Promote more even nutrient distribution
• Support normal vascular development
• Support normal amniotic fluid development
• Provide consistent mechanical stimulation throughout incubation

Horizontal vs. Vertical Egg Position

Eggs can be incubated in different orientations, and there are advantages and disadvantages to both horizontal and vertical positioning.

Research comparing egg positions has found that eggs incubated flat on their sides can achieve better hatching results, while other tested egg positions were associated with increased rates of embryo malpositioning, reaching as high as 4.73% in some cases.

For roller-style incubators, the eggs remain horizontal rather than standing vertically. This is not necessarily a disadvantage. In fact, incubators that turn eggs effectively on their sides can produce results that are very similar to incubators using other types of egg trays.

One important consideration is the degree of movement provided by the egg tray. Low-cost incubators that use vertical egg positioning may not tilt the eggs far enough to provide the potential benefits associated with vertical incubation. Effective and consistent egg movement is therefore an important part of successful incubation, regardless of the tray design.
